Robert J. "Bob" Nelson, 69, of Clearville, started a new life with his family in Heaven on Friday, October 25th, 2013. He was born Tuesday, July 25th, 1944 at his family home in Monroe Township, a son of the late Russell Nelson and Mary Ada (Grove) Nelson. On January 24th, 1967 in Winchester, Virginia, he married Joan V. (Stotler) Nelson who passed away on July 13th, 2000. He is survived by their children, Anjie Vance and husband Weldon Vance of Artemas, Jocelyn N. Markle and husband Terry Markle, of Clearville Robert R. "Russ" Nelson and wife Julie B. (Stiffler) Nelson, of Clearville Joseph S. Nelson and wife Darla (Kifer) Nelson, of Chaneysville a granddaughter Victoria Corle of Hyndman a grandson Brent Nelson and fiancé Carol Ann Emsinger, both of Bedford a step granddaughter Chasity Markle of Hollidaysburg a step grandson Justin Markle and fiancé Kelly Haines, both of Breezewood Three great granddaughters, Airyella, Destiny and Annabel and 5 step great grandchildren, Three sisters, Betty Spade of Clearville, Shirley Mearkle of Clearville, Faye Elbin of Everett; and two sisters-in-law, Doris Wallizer and husband Donald of Flintstone, Maryland and Shelvie Blank of Oldtown, Maryland. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in passing away by two grandsons, Levi Weicht in May of 2011, Luke Weicht in August of this year, a sister-in-law and six brothers-in-law. In his earliest years, Bob worked with his Dad as a carpenter, installing roofs, building foundations, additions and complete home in the Bedford County area, later working as a derrickman constructing pipe for gas wells in the Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey areas. He then began his lifelong career as a carpenter with CSX Transportation in Cumberland as a carpenter, where he was a member of the bridge crew and laid track until retiring as a foreman and carpenter in 2000. He was an honorary member of the Chaneysville Fire Company, and a member of the Everett American Legion Post #8, the Breezewood VFW Post #8333, and the Improved Order of the Redman Wambic Tribe #507. At home he enjoyed hunting and fishing, having always carried a fishing hook in his wallet just in case the opportunity to go fishing would arrive, and dearly loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would do anything for and with them. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 31st, 2013 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Curtis Bryant officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Thursday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at the Nelson Family Cemetery.
