Sara L.. (Mills) Messersmith

Sara L. Messersmith, 89, of Clearville, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, from UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born August 10, 1921 in Clearville, a daughter of the late James H. Mills and Pearl (Morris) Mills. On August 16, 1939 in Winchester, VA, she married Conda R. Messersmith who passed away on November 2, 1993. She is survived by their children, Conda Gerald Messersmith of Loxahachee, FL Doris Ann Tate, and husband Eddie Tate, of Silver Spring, FL a grandson, David Tate, of Silver Spring FL 2 brothers, Archie A. Mills and wife Florence, of Hermitage, and Floyd E. Mills of Greenville, and 2 sisters-in-law, Hilda Weaverling, of Everett and Betty Mills of Transfer. She was preceded in passing away by an infant son Gary Lee Messersmith on September 20, 1948, a sister Freda (Mills) Ritchey and her husband Boyd Ritchey 4 brothers and their wives, Walter Calvin "Bill" Mills and Irene Mills, Wilmer Mills and Katherine Mills, Homer Mills and Sara Mills, Marvin Mills and Althea Mills, and 2 sisters-in-law, Pauline Mills and Grace Mills Mrs. Messersmith was a member of the Pleasant Union Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning in her younger days, and also enjoying reading, sharing memories with her family and friends from her picture albums, and watching western movies and television shows. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Rev. Lyle Mellott officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Pleasant Union Cemetery.
