Thomas Cicala Obituary

Thomas A. "Tommy" Cicala, 58, of Chaneysville, passed away at home on Saturday, December 31, 2016. He was born, Sunday, September 21st, 1958 in Washington, DC, a son of K. Joanne (Souder) McMahon of Port Charlotte, Florida and Charles D, Cicala of Chaneysville. He is survived by three daughters, Ashley C. Catterton and husband Jesse A. Catterton of Martinsburg, WV, Cassie Jo Cicala of Everett, Katie M.G. Cicala of Everett, Two grandsons, Cameron Alan Catterton and Dominic Thomas Catterton, a stepdaughter Brooke M. Jenkins, a stepson Christopher Collins of State College, A brother Charles D. Cicala, Jr. of Beaver, Utah, Former partner Tina Martini of Martinsburg, WV, Former wife, Melissa (Clark) Oster of Everett, A stepsister Tammy Brown, a stepbrother Clifton McMahon, Jr., a stepfather Clifton McMahon, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and their families. In addition to his grandparents, and several aunts and uncles, he was preceded in passing away by his girlfriend, Sherri Clark in April of 2016. Tommy attended worship services at the Prosperity Church in Chaneysville. A graduate of High Point High School in Adelphi, Maryland, Class of 1976, he first worked as an apprentice numerical control program machinist in McAllen, Texas. He then served in the U.S. Army as a Private 2nd Class with Troop C, 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment as an Airborne Infantryman receiving the Parachute Badge, the Expert Badge M-16 Rifle and the Expert Badge Hand Grenade, and was a member of The Hancock American Legion Post #0026. Tommy then worked with NASA on the Hubble Space Telescope Servicing Mission 3A, in the design, engineering, manufacturing and fabrication of piece parts for the aerospace system. He then worked with the Department of Commerce on The Year 2000 (Y2K) Council to educate and prepare for the year 2000 transition; educating, preparing and assuring the community that continuity of lifestyle and services would continue. Since 2002, Tommy has been employed with FEMA United State Citizen Corps - Office of Homeland Security, as a Community Watch and Operations Coordinator for the Jurisdiction Bedford County, supporting disaster and terror prevention and recovery and helping fund local FEMA disaster and relief projects. At home he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his two grandsons, and will be remembered for finding the good nature in everyone and supporting your confidence in yourself. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6th, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Pastor John Miller officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Friday from 11:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Everett Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Everett Honor Guard.
