Vera M. (Donaldson) O'Neal

Vera M. O'Neal, 79, of Everett was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 2nd, 2015. She was born Friday, August 21st, 1936 at her family home in Wells Tannery, a daughter of the late Coy Donaldson and Pearl (Leonard) Donaldson. She is survived by two sons, Monty G. O'Neal and wife Teresa Joi (Wertz) O'Neal of New Enterprise, Corey A. O'Neal of Everett and fiancé Tina Poland of Everett, Two granddaughters, Tori O'Neal and Amy Dawn Christopher, 3 great grandchildren, a brother Junior Donaldson of Saxton, a niece Cindy Gassner of West Middlesex, and a nephew Dennis Claybaugh of Clearville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing away by a daughter Kathy (O'Neal) Christopher, an infant sister Sophia Grace Donaldson, three sisters, Elsie Claybaugh, Lydia Mott and Loretta Skinner, and three brothers, Clarence Donaldson, Louis Donaldson and Henry Donaldson. Mrs. O'Neal was a lifelong member of the Shermans Valley Brethren in Christ Church. She attended Landondale High School and for many years thereafter worked as a cook at the Howard Johnson Restaurant in Breezewood, The Union Hotel in Everett, The Surf Room in Everett, Marteens Family Restaurant in Everett and along with her mother Pearl, ran the kitchen at Bill's Place east of Breezewood on Route 30. An avid dirt track racing fan that encouraged her family to become involved in racing, Vera would travel to Reading, New Jersey, the old South Penn Speedway, and of course to the Bedford Speedway, to attend races at the drop of a hat. At home she enjoyed sewing for her family and friends, making new items and fixing up their old ones, and will be remembered for the support and love she shared with her family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 6th, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett , with Pastor Pat Murphy officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com. Burial will be held at Shermans Valley Cemetery
