Wanda Lee Nicholas Yoder, 76, of Everett, entered into the joy of her Lord on Jan. 28, 2018. She was born Jan. 11, 1942, in Hampton, Va., to Mary Elizabeth MacDonald Nicholas, a homemaker, and Claude Gideon Nicholas, a U.S. Army Air Corp B- 17 pilot who would give his life in service during World War II. Small and slender in her youth, her tiny appearance earned her the affectionate, lifelong nickname of "Tina." She attended God's Bible School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and then Salisbury Wesleyan Holiness Bible School in Salisbury, N.C., where she met Dale Robert Yoder, whom she would marry on Oct 5, 1973. She worked as a nurse at the Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, until the birth of her only child. She continued her work in nursing at the Everett Christian Home, and later provided inhome care in both Breezewood and Everett. She deeply loved Jesus, was a frequent contributor to missions, and was an active member of Clear Creek Brethren in Christ Church, working steadily in the nursery, and loved associated activities like Secret-Sister, and the weekly Bible question. She was heavily active in the community, working with Military Mothers, Red Hats, Pennsylvania Food Bank, and the Everett Senior Center. Her love of games made her a repeat medalist at the Young-At-Heart games, and also a Silver Medal Scrabble Champion for Southern PA. She was a voracious reader, loving authors ranging from Karen Kingsbury to Beverly Lewis, and donated many books to the Everett Free Library. She loved the Gospel music concert offerings of Friendship Village, and the annual visit of one her favorites: The Hoppers. She survived by a son, David Yoder of Washington, D.C., a twin-sister, Mary Nicholas of Everett, and a brother, Rev. Claude Nicholas of Mt. Vernon, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale R. Yoder, in 2003. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Clear Creek Brethren in Christ Church, with Pastor John Guyer officiating. Friends may call at Dalla Valle Funeral Service Main Street, Everett on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m., on Friday at the Church from 10 a.m. until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com.
