Wesley Shoemaker Obituary

Wesley T. Shoemaker, 84, of Everett, passed away on Sunday, February 24th, 2019.

He was born Thursday, March 1st, 1934 in Claysburg, a son of the late Fred Shoemaker and Ada L. (Miller) Shoemaker.

On February 7th, 1959 in Winchester, Virginia he married Margaret M. (Martin) Shoemaker who passed away on February 1st, 1998. He is survived by their children,

Wesley T. Shoemaker, Jr., and wife Gloria J. (Barley) Shoemaker of Everett,
Cristy L. Kluck and husband Andrew J. Kluck of Seneca,
Theresa L. Smith and husband Danny L. Smith of Everett,

8 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, two sisters, Esther Wineland of Mesa, Arizona; Emma Poe of Glendale, Arizona, two brothers, Robert Shoemaker of Everett and Calvin Shoemaker of Arkansas, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in passing away by an infant son Timothy Shoemaker, a son, Martin A. "Marty" Shoemaker, an infant grandson Wesley J. Kluck, an infant granddaughter Margo D. Smith, a sister Helen Imler and a brother William Shoemaker.

In his younger years, Wesley attended the Everett Church of the Brethren and was a graduate of Everett Southern Joint High School, Class of 1952. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean War, serving as a Specialist 3, Engineering Equipment Mechanic in Germany and state side receiving the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

After his service to our country, Joby, as he was know to his family and friends, began working as a repairmen and painter at Jim Shauf's Auto Body Shop in Everett. He then worked as a mechanic and painter at Texas Eastern in Bedford and for over 25 years was a pressman at Standard Register until it's closing. He then worked as a fuel attendant at All American Truck Service in Breezewood, and then retired after working for the Everett Area School District as a custodian and groundskeeper.

At home Joby enjoyed watching old western movies, taking care of his yard, hunting, and his favorite pastime was fishing. A dedicated father, grandfather, brother and friend, he will be remembered as a caring person with a gentle soul who dearly loved his wife and children.

Funeral service will be Thursday, February 28th, 2019 at 11:00 am in the chapel at Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett, with Pastor Keith Showalter officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, on Thursday from 10:00 am until the hour of service and share memories online at www.dallavalle-everett.com.

Burial will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park with full military honors conducted by the Everett Honor Guard.
